Mark Kohler is an award winning watercolorist: the recipient of the 2008 Cowboy Artists of America Founders Award and the 2009 Phippen Museum Foundation Award. “I want to document the independent spirit and pride that the modern cowboy has inherited from his predecessors. It is uniquely American and worthy of preservation.”
He is privileged to be invited to some of the oldest, traditional ranches still left in the country, such as the ORO Ranch outside Prescott, AZ and the Pitchfork Ranch in the Texas Panhandle. He has been featured in Southwest Art, Western Art Collector, and Art of the West. He has self-published a coffee-table book, titled Mark Kohler: Working Cowboys, and collaborated with noted author Kathy McCraine on a cowboy cookbook, titled Cow Country Cooking, in which his paintings are illustrated.
